Giving Projects

HRF North America currently supports two projects: The Holy Child Motherless Babies’ in Enugu, Nigeria; and financial support for the education of underprivileged girls in Africa.

The Holy Child Motherless Babies’ Home | Enugu, Nigeria

The home specifically caters to children who either lost their mothers during or shortly after childbirth or before the age of 3. In most of these cases the fathers are not equipped to take care of infants and do not have the resources to hire domestic help.  The end goal of the home is to take care of the children until they attain a more manageable age for the fathers (between 3 – 5 years).  The fathers visit their children periodically, and take them back at an agreed upon time as mentioned above.

HRF North America recognized the home was in need of financial assistance, as their funding sources were inadequate to provide their needs.

In 2012 HRF North America provided the home with a clean water well, water pump, and 2 overhead water tanks.  This ensures that there is constant supply of clean water to take care of the needs of  the children and staff.

In 2013, HRF North America shipped and installed a playground in the home in the same space as the previous playground.  The original playground was in a poor state, was built with metal which was mostly rusted, and was a safety concern to the children.  On one of our visits, post –installation, it was a joy to see the children running around in the playground with smiles on their faces.

Financial Support for the Education of Underprivileged Girls in Africa

In 2013 HRF North America provided 2 young ladies  with financial assistance to help with their education.  This went a long way to easing their anxiety and fears over whether they could afford to remain in school.  They could therefore concentrate on their studies, and their future.  The 2013 recipients were:

Mercy Aboh, an Engineering student at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria.

Rose Macharia is a Medical student at Kenyatta university, Nairobi, Kenya.

We are providing the same level of sponsorship in 2014 to 2 young ladies, and plan to expand our financial sponsorship to more recipients in the near future.

HRF North America provides the financial assistance through our partner WAAW Foundation.
